Ou plan just to remind you all is to have the Zimbabwe story finished by now, which Lana has done! Then for tomorrow the story by Cairen and Tammy on other things to do in G town etc…
We are still working on the X story for a much later stage, and Lana is working on the Outrhodes story too for a new angle.

hey all, just an idea! i was thinking that in light of whats happening in bloem i would like to do a feature on what rhodes students think about the video and also if anything like that is happening at rhodes???? what do you think?

had a random idea. i know we are already doing something on violence but bear with me for a second
so this week, on thursday night, we got home and they have broken into my best friend’s place. literally, we got back at 3am and all the doors were open, his laptop was gone… etc
at first we thought one of his digsmates left open the door but eventually realised the one girl’s bag was gone and they had the keys to the house and that’s how they got in
quite a mission, calling the the cops, hitech, getting stuff sorted, replacing locks (and making LOTS of tea)
bankcards, carkeys, IDs, everything was gone
so home affairs, banks, locksmiths, the works… quite the process getting everything sorted
and the police took forever with everything… eventually got to rest like 2 days later
so i thought it might be interesting to write a feature kind of in a first person view of the break in… just kind of like the break in experience
just a very descriptive piece on it, very colourful
i dont know, was just a thought… might be nice to have that because news stories on break ins are so boring and common these days
either way, let me know what you think
Just was thinking about maybe exploring the tension between students and members of the Grahamstown perhaps in terms of the parties and the drinking. Know the drinking culture been incrediably exploited by every media form at rhodes, but we might be able to find a good angle? How it effects vandalism, petty crimes etc which annoys the broader community and businesses.

Hi guys,
I live on African Street, and there has been an extreme amount of crime happening on our road in the past two weeks.
There is a meeting tonight at the police department to discuss this and they are hoping to get the community and residents involved in providing extra secuirity.
I thought I would go to the meeting and check it out, and see if a story could arise out of this. I know secuirity is a huge problem and concerns most people in Grahamstown so I think it is good as a social topic.
Will let you guys know how it goes,
